ABOUT
Me
I am a recent graduate from journalism at Mount Royal University with a minor in political science and a focus on international relations and foreign affairs. I spent my senior year as the lead editor of the Calgary Journal, Mount Royal University's student paper, running weekly meetings and assigning a team of editors and reporters while editing final copy. I spent the summer of 2019 interning with Global News Calgary, writing online content, interviewing for the news shows and setting up local stories. I have built my on-camera reporter and video news stories, covered a variety of topics, including profiles, news pieces, political debates, event coverage and food writing. My passion for current events and world news lead me to pursue my career as a journalist and grow in writing, editing, photography, video, audio and online design.
Canadian Federal election night live show
The Calgary Journal went live on election night with political experts, student electoral groups and journalists to discuss the election and what it means for Alberta.
The conversations centred around voter concerns and media coverage over the 40 days of the campaign.

I hosted the hour-long live show, produced the video and set up all guests for interviews.
Global News work
Working at Global news during the summer of 2019, my role involved working as an online and assignment desk intern. Alongside executive producers, assignment desk, and reporters to research stories, set up interviews, conduct interviews, streeters and cover press conferences and media avail. When pitching in the morning meetings, many of the ideas I gave went to air. Learning the role of a Video Journalist while contributing to content and assignments.

This story has been such a passion project for me, seeing the injustice everyone faces in the industry. Sexual Misconduct can come from coworkers, management and customers. The stories shared and the improvements needed to be made are highlighted in this piece. The servers tell their personal stories on camera, and the article explains the changes needed to be made.
Rodeo Feature, The Calgary Journal
Working as a summer editor landed me the front cover for the July/August print issue of the Calgary Journal, which focused on my feature coverage of the real side of rodeo. Shooting and designing the cover was a great experience. From covering small-town rodeos, interviewing competitors and attendees, and highlighting current agriculture problems, this project was an insight into the cowboy lifestyle.
Video Project: High River Balloon festival
After the devastating floods in 2013 across southern Alberta, many small towns were left with little visitors to the area.

Jamie Kinghorn, a local pilot, decided (with the help of a few friends) to change that by creating the High River Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival. Serving as the event organizer, Kinghorn’s event ended up drawing over 5,000 people.
